Since the emergence of ChatGPT late in 2022, everyone has been asking – how can this disruptive AI technology improve my work?
The claims about the work ChatGPT can replace range from writing entire blog posts and coding websites to assisting in personal finances and reducing research time.
Because of the results people are already seeing, ChatGPT has revolutionized a range of industries and there is no question that it has already started to impact those in partnerships.
But, for partner managers, directors, and VPs, how is ChatGPT actually useful?
We at Partner Fleet decided to pull together six ChatGPT prompts that you can use in your partnership role today, to become more efficient and effective.
How to use ChatGPT for best results
ChatGPT is a free browser-based application that uses AI and machine learning to respond to prompts or questions. It was built to work as a conversation, learning context as you continue to interact with it.
But you can bypass multiple interactions by feeding it context before you ask for responses.
For partnership teams, this could look like:
“I work as the Director of Partnerships for X company (include URL for best results). I’m trying to start a strategic partnership with Y company.
Give me the 5 best people to contact and a personalized LinkedIn message for each of them.”
The first paragraph lays the groundwork for ChatGPT to understand who you are and what you want to accomplish. Then, when you ask a specific question or request a task the AI can give you a response much more catered to your specific needs.
And don’t be afraid to ask for modifications to the response like:
- Say that in a casual tone
- Say that in half as many words
- Give me X more
The only thing you have to fear is the AI overtaking human intelligence – but the cat’s already out of that bag I think.
6 ChatGPT prompts for partnership teams
Okay, let’s dive into some examples of prompts to get you started with ChatGPT.
Note: I used a hypothetical company to show detailed prompts. My fictional company is a customer support tool that sells to SMB customers in North America.
1. Ideal partner profiles
When initiating a partnership program or seeking to attract new partners to your existing program, establishing an ideal partner profile is crucial.
This profile serves as the foundation of your recruitment strategy and helps determine the type of partner most likely to generate revenue for your program.
To create this profile, several steps are involved including understanding your ideal customer profile (ICP), analyzing your competitors' partners, and comprehending your key business goals.
It can take many hours to map out this profile, including background research and conversations.
But ChatGPT can help…
Finding ideal partner profiles with ChatGPT
Instead of spending hours and days mapping out an ideal partner program, instead try this ChatGPT process.
Here’s the first prompt to enter into ChatGPT:
“What information do you need to tell me the best types of companies to partner with?”
The main things to include in this prompt include the type of customer you sell into, your target market’s location, your list of potential competitors, and your partner program’s main goal.
Here was my follow-up answer:
“We are a customer support company that sells mainly into SMB customers, our competitors are companies like Zendesk and Intercom, we sell into North America, and our main goals with our partner program is to gain revenue.”
This comprehensive list of potential partner types is an excellent starting point for building your ideal partner profile.
Not only does it provide a range of options, but it also explains why each type could be a good fit for your business.
Taylor this prompt to suit your needs. For instance, if you have already identified a successful partner type, you may ask ChatGPT to recommend additional companies within this category that could make good partners for your business.
2. Battle cards
Do you feel constantly pulled in a million directions? Partnerships programs, and specifically partner marketing teams, are often understaffed. Which can mean burnout or a struggle to keep up with creating new resources.
One of the most time-consuming and critical resources is battlecards.
A battlecard provides your partner's sales team with information about your software or solution and how it can benefit their customers.
Designing a typical battlecard requires extensive effort, from messaging creation to design implementation, and it can take hours to complete just one.
Multiply this by the number of partners you have, and it can be an incredibly time-consuming task.
Now let's see how ChatGPT can help…
Creating battle cards with ChatGPT
Instead of having to sit down and map out the design of each battlecard, try out these ChatGPT prompts.
“I want you to help with the design of a battlecard for a partner, what information about the partner do you need to help me do that?”
I then followed up with:
“Okay, my partner is HubSpot which is a CRM for small businesses. We have an integration partnership with them where our customer support solution integrates into their CRM. Customers benefit by seeing their CRM information inside of their support tickets. This battlecard will be used to train their sales team of the benefits. We will include a picture of what customers will see as a part of the integration.”
The information provided by ChatGPT has not only outlined the necessary sections to include in a battlecard for our partner HubSpot but also included content that can be easily copied and pasted into a program like PowerPoint.
At this point, creating an effective battlecard is quick and easy.
3. App store listing
One of the easiest ways to generate demand for your partner program is to be added into your partners app marketplace.
These app marketplaces advertise your product to your partners' customer base.

Like any other landing page, this listing needs to be useful, compelling, and succinct. Otherwise potential customers won’t give it the time of day.
Creating a great app store listing can take a lot of time and effort – but you want to get it up fast!
Creating an app store listing with ChatGPT
Try these prompts in order to generate a blueprint of your listing:
“I am looking to fill out an app store listing and need help with content. I want you to generate content that can be included in the app store listing, that I can copy and paste in. What information do I need to give you?”
FIll in the information ChatGPT needs.
“For our app store listing, I am a customer support tool that sells to SMB businesses in North America. We have a great integration with this tool which pulls information from the tool in our customer support ticket que. Our main features are shared inbox and knowledge base. We have won numerous G2 awards for the best customer support tool for SMBs. Our pricing starts at $20 per user per month.
Write me a good app store listing template.”
While ChatGPT prompts may not provide ALL the information needed to complete an app marketplace listing, they do offer a solid foundation for filling in the gaps.
It gets you ~40-60% of the way there.
This assistance enables you to advance workflows even as you await further support from marketing, ultimately helping you create app store listings faster. And ones that not only resonate but also have the potential to generate new business.
4. Partner newsletter
As a partner manager, one crucial responsibility is to maintain regular communication with your partner counterparts and their sales teams.
How can you achieve this on a large scale? With a partner newsletter.
You can update partners about new product features, inform them of SPIFFs, and mention recent customer successes and case studies.
Frequently, partner managers depend on overburdened partner marketers or direct marketing teams to create these newsletters.
Fortunately, ChatGPT can assist in this task by providing a framework that simplifies the process of crafting compelling partner newsletters. This not only keeps your brand at the forefront of your ecosystem's mind but also reduces wait time and reliance on the aforementioned parties.
Creating a partner newsletter template with ChatGPT
By using a few simple prompts, ChatGPT is able to give you a compelling template that can be used as the basis for every monthly newsletter.
“I am looking at writing a partner newsletter! This newsletter will be sent to my partner counterparts and their sales teams to help keep our company top of mind. I would like you to build me a template that I can use each month.”
Utilizing this template and incorporating details unique to your organization, you can develop a highly engaging partner newsletter that resonates with your audience.
Rather than waiting for marketing resources to free up, create a draft using the provided template, and let your marketing team apply the final design and copywriting touches.
5. Partner Agreement
A partnership involves a business relationship that must be regulated by a legal agreement.
In some partner programs, particularly new ones, there might not be an existing agreement to sign new partners onto.
Hence, it's useful to develop a template or draft agreement, which can be adjusted by in-house or external legal counsel to solidify terms and ensure the agreement is legally binding.
However, the current process can be challenging for a couple of reasons:
First, partner managers are not legal experts, making it difficult to create even a rough outline.
Second, generating a template can be time-consuming.
Let's see what ChatGPT has to say...
Creating a partner agreement with ChatGPT
Create a starting template for your partner agreement, with this prompt:
“I need a template referral agreement for my partner. Can you create a template agreement for me?”
(Note, this won't produce a legally binding contract, use this as a basis and then use a legal counsel to finalize.)
The above covers all the main points that need to be included in a referral partnership agreement.
Use this as a template to keep the overall costs of creating such an agreement down.
6. Zapier automation for your partner program
The central focus of this blog post is enhancing efficiency. There’s nothing more efficient than automation.
Companies like Zapier and Make.com have simplified the process of connecting systems and implementing automations, making life easier for everyone.
However, for partner managers, setting up these automations can be daunting (especially when you have so much other work to do).
Fortunately, ChatGPT is here to guide you through the process of establishing automation, streamlining the more tedious aspects of your program.
Creating automations with ChatGPT
ChatGPT can provide a detailed, step-by-step guide to help you create a Zapier automation (called a Zap).
Try this prompt:
“I want to build a Zap for my partner program. This Zap should create a notification in my sales team channel for every time we sign a new partner. Can you list the steps I need to go through in order to create this automation?”
The clear, recipe-like format of the instructions provided by ChatGPT simplifies the process of building automation for your partner program effectively and efficiently.
With ChatGPT, there's no need to be a technical expert or a coder. It takes care of the complex tasks, enabling you to create powerful automations that save time and enhance your partner program's efficiency.
Conclusion
When used effectively in the scenarios outlined above, ChatGPT provides an innovative and useful tool that can help partner managers streamline their workflows.
And, as AI technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovative use cases that can benefit partnership teams.
